Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

On this page we answer FAQs on the Physicians Portal of the Charité.

What is the Charité Physicians Portal?

The Charité Physicians Portal makes medical data, findings and medical reports on our common patients available via the internet for joint or further treatment. The data provided is based on a case-by-case basis, that is, the data refer to the current clinical picture. All medical practitioners and institutions designated by the patient can view and retrieve this information.

Our plans for the future: electronic transmission of your findings and the booking of appointments online.

How does the Charité Physicians Portal work?

After receiving the access data and installing a certificate, you can - as in online banking - log into the medical staff portal. You will then receive a selection of all the patients who are currently being treated or have been treated by us in the past. Findings released for the portal (radiology, histology, laboratory results) and discharge letters for the patient can then viewed or downloaded.

Who has access to the Charité Physicians Portal?

Only those medical practitioners, who have explicitly been designated by the patient in the consent declaration form, have access to the Charité Physicians Portal. These medical practitioners are approved by the Charité as a user of the Charité Physicians Portal upon submission of an user application. To access the data, you must identify yourself to the Charité Physicians Portal as an authorized person with username, password and access certificate. You will have access to the Charité Physicians Portal via the internet using an encrypted SSL connection.

How long are the data available?

The data in the Charité Physicians Portal is available for review for three months after completion of inpatient treatment and six months after outpatient treatment. After this time, the data will be automatically deleted and/or erased immediately after receiving a revocation of consent of the patient.

What are the costs?

Participation is free of charge. The only charges due are your own internet charges.

How do I access the Charité Physicians Portal?

Send us the application by fax or email or just call us. We will get back to you to clarify any details with you.
